Making Mayflowers

Today our class combined with Mrs. Moore's class to design cargo ships like The Mayflower. We tested each boat to see if it floated and what gram mass it could carry before sinking. It was a great activity the half day before Thanksgiving.  We only had a few "Speedwells." You can ask your third grader what the Speedwell was.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

STEM with Mrs. Horton's Class

Last Friday we decided to partner up with Mrs. Horton's fifth grade class to work on making candy corn towers. Students made a plan and shared with their group. They then used trial and error to create the tallest tower using only candy corn and toothpicks. Here are some pictures of our engineers in action.

Exploring the Maker Space

Today we had the opportunity to explore the technology in the Maker Space. To say the student were excited is an understatement. Some were coding robots, designing 3D figures, using green screen technology to take pictures, and wiring their own keyboards. The creative possibilities were endless in the Maker Space.

Introduction to the Maker Space

Mrs. Tucceri gave our class an introduction to the Maker Space. This invention lab is a space for students to explore ideas incorporating science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Next week students will have an opportunity to use the Maker Space materials. Please click the link below to learn more out the FK Maker Space.
